Visual artist and film-makers Ellis Faas commissioned to make a film which drew on inspiration from the traditional mask of the Ivory Coast.
She explain- "since ancient times, humans have been using masks, to express power and authority- to feel self-confident, to stand out or to hide behind, to not be recognised or disappear into the masses. Not only a traditional masks but also by disguising or ornamental elements such as clothing, jewellery, hair and make-up. But can one truly change one's identity or it's a merely a temporary transformation and who or what defines someone's true identity. Is it the mask, is it the human being behind the mask behind the mask, or maybe even the creator of the mask"
Well, that is is true what Ellis says, people always cover a faces behind the mask. The Magical Africa- the artists revealed exhibition, both inspires and scares. When I watched a film I had goose skin, for me a little be quirky and definitely I will never had the same imagination like Ellis Faas to create such a big things and the same time crazy things.
