Final Evaluation about "New Elizabethan" project

First year as a student at Solent University study a Make-up and Hair Design, first our project was very interesting and developing, we reached to Elizabeth I era 1553-1603. The pale complexion and frizzy hair was a sign of wealth and nobility. Very interesting and instructive era for me especially about a make-up. During my career as a beautician I never had a chance to do it a make-up like use to have an Elizabeth a pale complexion, using a skin base or techniques how to cover eyebrows, very useful project to work in the theatre and not only, also very intriguing development.

However, after our technical lesson, I did not practise this techniques at home- not always, which I should, especially when we started work in pairs. From the beginning I don’t even know how to put in words, I was living in different world because we didn't know each other. The major point was that we hadn’t a chance to choose a partner, unfortunately I didn't feel like I am connecting with her (my partner), and I felt a little bit uncomfortable, might be only reason I didn't practise a lot.

For my final design I chose a new- modern combination Indian-geisha make-up, playing with vivid, very intensive colours, which reflects for me very strong character of Elizabeth I, like also beauty, fragility and delicacy. Definitely this project was very creative, something unique, something which you never compare to a beauty make-up.

To summarise I would like a see more project like this one, to developing our creativeness, spirit, ambitions, how which of us is unique.

Technical Folder Evaluation

Since we are started our practical lessons with Sue we had really hard and intensive 11 weeks work about our project for this semester “New Elizabethan”. From the beginning Sue teach us new techniques how to apply a skin base, foundation, how to properly cleanse a client face before apply any make-up. First week what quite interesting about health & safety, especially how to properly clean a brushes with alcohol, which I never used before- basically how easy we can do that. Second important think, personal hygiene and work area. Every week we had to write our evaluation, how the rehearsal went, actually this was a good think for future works to reminder our self-step by step. I really enjoyed this but... always is some issues, she usually pick up a voluntary model to show us how should look like this is a brilliant idea but for me she never came and tried correct us when some struggle with, that why some times had the impression that our lessons are very cold. An example how to cover an eyebrows using a stick glue or soap, a people from group really struggle with that, second one how to put a little skin base and really god buffed onto a skin just remove an excess. Definitely I would like see from tutors more shown an examples on models as well to more involves when we are struggle with something.

Well I can definitely be a model, less stressful for me. For my design I chose a combination of Indian-geisha make up, using a vivid, very intensive colours.

I did step by step for my make-up artist. From beginning she couldn't cover my eyebrows  which failed with this, she didn't cover neck and ears with skin base, like also didn't buff very well into a skin, she struggle with eye shadows, which you can see it on the pictures, it looks like have a patches.I wasn't very happy with that  and also as a make up artist she didn't care about her look and personal hygiene (about a hair).

Time assessment as a make-up artist

Very stressful day for my to recreate something, who designed. First think, which are in my head is if I can handle this....well definitely is easy to recreate something when you are practising a lot. Aine's final design wasn't difficult for my luck, the hardest part was cover eyebrows, which didn't went very well, and I think for my self I put too much skin base and didn't buffed very well remove an excess.She chose very warm colours like warm brown and nude. From beginning I started to cover eyebrows by using a stick glue, during drying eyebrows I put a matte primer onto the skin, I used few layers to achieved invisible eyebrows- well I need it still practise on it, after applied a skin base, I put too much and didn't buffed very well, eyelids cover with a nude colour, and defined out corner of the eyes, and a little inner of the nose, with the same warm brown I blushed a chicks, for lips I use warm ginger-brown mixed with a little of bit with gold.That is my final look working as a make-up artist.

 

My Final Look for time assessment

My final contemporary Elizabethan make-up design influences of geisha- Indian new modern make-up, playing with vivid colours remainder me of Elizabeth I, her strong character and personality and at the same time sensitivity and sensuality. This contemporary portrait also has a lot from Elizabethan Era, reminder me of like Elizabethan meets Indian people from North America, I can see a little pale face, royal colours and accessories like big hats, colours which suit a high nobility and royalty, that's my contemporary design really reflects similar look.

Step by step I started from , put onto my face matte primer, after applied a skin base and buffed onto the skin, I finished with translucent powder.On my eyelid I applied light green and really intensive blue , under I put dark green, all of them I really good blended onto, on the next side , under eyes I applied orange turmeric and yellow, and again I blended very well, cheeks define by purple , both sides symmetrical, last think was a lips which I define them by very intensive red- one of my favourite colours, my eyebrows covered by stick glue, and that my final look.
